Depilar FAQ - (Salons)
Who can purchased Depilar?
Depilar is a professional product sold to licensed skin care professionals only. This would include Cosmetologists, Esthetician or Waxing professionals. The reason for this is in the waxing procedure. Licensed professionals remove the hair directly from the root with minimal breakage. This is critical in the effectiveness of Depilar. Individuals who are not professionally trained in hair removal will generally break the hair and minimize the effectiveness of Depilar and the results will be diminished.
Do you have a suggested retail price sheet for what to charge for the Depilar treatment?
Depilar does not regulate or recommend treatment pricing. There are many factors that contribute to your pricing structure such as location, employee costs and other operating expenses. We have a suggested price list to help guide you.
Can you apply the Depilar System to clients that have been getting laser hair removal?
Yes! The Depilar System will work if your client has NOT had success with laser treatments. You must discontinue laser treatments and perform regular and successive Depilar System treatments.
Is there any protocol I should follow prior to a Depilar System treatment?
Yes. It is recommended that your clients shower or bathe 2 hours prior to a Depilar Treatment. Also, no oils or talcs should be used in conjunction with the hair removal procedure as these may clog pores or change the pH of the skin.
What kind of wax should be used?
You may use any type of wax or sugaring product for the hair removal procedure. As long as the hair is removed properly from the root Depilar will be effective.
How long after waxing should Depilar be applied?
Depilar should be applied within 10 - 15 minutes of the hair being removed. This will allow the Depilar to enter the hair follicle effectively. Applying Depilar after the 15 minute period will decrease the effectiveness. The quicker the better!
Clients with dry skin. Is that a problem?
No. Simply have them exfoliate or dry brush the skin prior to treatment.
How often should the Depilar System be applied?
Regular and successive treatments should be performed every 4-6 weeks depending on hair growth cycles over a 12-24 month period. The hair must be ¼ inch in length to be properly removed by the root. See chart on “The hair growth cycle” page.
I have applied several treatments with Depilar System to my clients and I don’t see a difference?
The Depilar System only treats hair that is visible and in the anagen or growth phase. Each hair growth cycle must be treated separately and, depending on the area treated. In most cases a visible decrease in hair growth can be seen in 1 to 2 treatments, however, some clients may require 4-5 treatments before a visible result is noticed.
I just started applying the Depilar System to my client and am seeing more hair, not less?
Sometimes there is a temporary increase in hair growth following the first treatment as the body is reacting to the hair removal process. Removing hair by the root can reset the anagen phase for hair producing cells. Dormant hair producing cells are activated and will allow for increased efficacy for subsequent treatments and even more visible results.
How should I instruct my client as to post Depilar care?
They should not shower or bathe for 45 minutes after treatment. It is also advised to perform an exfoliation or dry brushing of the treated area 4-5 days post-treatment.
Are there restrictions to sun exposure after applying Depilar?
After any waxing or sugaring treatment sun exposure should be avoided for 24 hours, giving the skin a chance to recuperate. And as always, be sure to wear sunscreen, avoid the sun at noon and don’t stay in the sun too long!
